It was so nice and fun with them XD

Time goes by so fast that we chatted till 1am.

Nils is leaving on Friday morning, Nadine's on Saturaday and us on Sunday. Most of the people had left today already since they live in Russia which is just few hours car ride back.
For Nils and Nadine, 2 hours flight and back home while I need one day man !!
Anyway, promised to keep in contact. We must, ok ? hahhaa

Oh ya I seriously need to start packing and clean up the house but the problem is I don't know where I should start from hahhaha

Martti and Liisa came to our school and drove us to their house. Hahaha I always like the feeling of being fetch from school.

It was snowing the whole day yesterday. If you see closer into the picture, you can see the small snow flake. CAN ?

It is nice to receive a msg from Liisa telling us not to eat lunch in school because she have prepared it.

The two dish at the most right are their traditional christmas food XD. Not to forget, my favourite berry juice hahaha

YH! I think this is your favourite dish. Potato and MEAT!

Dessert ! There are three kinds of berries in it, strawberries, cranberries and raspberries. I love this so much that I got two servings in the end. I'm going to find the recipe for this !

Beautiful day XD Actually it was only 2:30pm in the afternoon hahhah

After lunch, we rest awhile in the sofa while listening to finnish christmas carols. The comfortable atmosphere never fails to make me feel like sleeping. In winter time, you really feel like hibernating, like a bear.

Next, put on our warm clothes and prepared to go out even though it's just going to their backyard. Hahaha

Tried out skiing in their backyard. They have only one pair so we have to take turn. Skiing is tiring, needs huge amount of hand muscles hahaha.

You can eat the ice directly from the ground. I always love chewing on ice, you all should know bah hhahah

After being outside for some time, went back inside the house to warm up. Very troublesome leh ! Have to keep putting on and taking out layers of clothes.

Liisa passed us the skate, asking us to try on and see if the size fit. Get everything together before heading out to the ice skating place.

Guess the time? It's 4 in the afternoon!!

Can you see the sparkling floor? Whenever light is shine on the ice, the ice sparkles. When it snows, the snows look like raining diamonds~

No wonder people loves snow because it really brighten up the place and your mood in the dark winter.

Guess this is what you call NATURE. Though they took the sunlight away from you but they gave you these beautiful snows which gave you hope and light in a special way.

Thanks to the Friday ice skating practice we used to have last time, I can skate easily over here. But because it's man-made, the ice is dry and rough. Not really nice to skate unlike the skating ring in Jurong which is of water.

Oh man! The kids over here are so cute, all bundled up XD

Next up, boardgames

I have never played boardgames with my parents before, not to say anyone older than my parents.

Yet, I don't feel any generation gap with Liisa and Martti. Cool, isn't it. They are really cool people too hahhah Oh ya do you know they 'research' on us in FB before our first meeting.

Martti reaction when he won was really cute hahhah.

After two rounds of game, it's time for ....... SAUNA. XD

Changed clothes and in we go. When it got too hot for us, Liisa said she was going to go out into the snow and make a snow angel, asked us if we want to watch her little 'show'.Hahah

The both of us then stood on a bench inside the sanua resting room, watchingher through the small window up above. Right after she same back, both of us ran out and did the same thing. 5 seconds in the icy snow and ran quickly back to the sauna. 5 seconds outside is enough to make my hands and feets numb.

It was relaxing to chat with Liisa while hitting ourselves with birch leaves. This is the traditional way of finnish sauna. But the leaves are flying all around and sticking onto our body. I saw a leave on liisa's butt.oops hahha

show liisa our house in singapore using google earth since she wanted to know. although all you can see is blocks of building. she showed us OULU which was another city in finland, she was born there XD

Some bread,ham,salmons and tea. How can i not be fat with all these foods?

Liisa brought this. SHe wanted us to eat together but forgotten about it. So instead she broke the house into many pieces and packed some for us to bring back home.

Spent my whole afternoon and evening with my host family today XD
It was a wonderful day yet it was filled with sadness.
This will probably be our last time together.
Seperation is never easy.
The feeling of knowing you have only a few more days and will maybe never get to see them again anytime soon hurts.

Last Day - 21/11/09, back to Finland

Woke up very early, the sun wasn't even up yet.

Pack our stuff and off we go.

Took metro(RER) to Charles de Gaulle airport.

Checked in and was at the waiting room.

Didn't expect to see PAUL there. I have been eating their pastries for the past three days continuously. This will be the last time i'm able to eat it. It's also the only stuff I will miss.

A very small plane with only two seats each side.

Again, we have to transit at Amsterdam.

Woohoo ! The sandwich again !!

The sunset that day was breath-taking. It was the most beautiful sunset I even seen. The whole sky was in red, glowing red and the moon looked as if it was out of a book. Oh ya, and the first time I saw so many passengers looking out of the window. Too bad that the sunset was at the other side, if not we could have taken better pictures.

It was 5 pm when we reached Finland. We have to be fast since we have to rush for the bus to the city centre so that we can catch the train on time to go back to our town.

In the end, we are walking so fast that we walked to the wrong gate. We are to collect our baggage at T2. But the problem was that there is no turning back, no way to head back. Luckily, we were no the only one. So, we had to get out of T1 and walk all the way to T2. We thought that it would take some time for the personnel to let us into the luggage area in T2. In the end, the group in front of us just walked into the luggage area through the exit gate and there were no one stopping them so we just followed them.

But come to think of it, it was quite stupid of the airport. I mean we alight at T1 so we should collect our luggage from T1, isn't it?

Nevermind, at least we caught the bus on time.

Reached the centre at 5:50pm and ran for the train at 6:00pm. The next train is at 8:00pm so we cannot lose this.

2 and half hour train ride back was delayed cause of some maintainance problems. Finally, reach Lappeenranta at 8:45pm.

Sad to see that all the snow have melted away :( It was warmer now. But I don't like it.

Day 4

Day 4 - 20/11/09, Disneyland, Val D'Europe

Moved to another accomadation so that it will be nearer to the disneyland.

However, we lost our way.

In the end, thanks to the help we got, we found it at last XD

My second time to a Disneyland. Had to say that Paris Disneyland was disappointing.

The attractions are mainly focusing on young kids so young adults like us have nothing much to enjoy. Furthermore, they just don't have the atmosphere.

there was a loooong queue full of little kids waiting for their turn with Cinderella. Actually, we queued too but backed out since it was paiseh to fight with the little kids.

Adorable, right?! They love to dress their children as princesses, almost all the children there were dressed up.

I was contemplating whether to get this or not. HAHAH

After Disneyland, went back to Val D'Europe, the shoping area that we went yesterday. Spent the rest of the day there, looking for the wallet my brother wants.

The stuffs over here are cheaper by about 50€ since it was out of the season and have limited varitey. But Longchamp is exceptionally cheaper over here since it's a Paris brand.

Mainly are stuffs for family HAHAHA

Day 3- 19/11/09

Finally finally finally ~ we received our bags in the morning! We can charge our camera, change into clean clothes and have nice bath today !

This was our little island. HAHAH! Cause there was no table, chair or even a hanger so we just have to put it like this.

Heading to the outskirt of Paris. We are off schedule and everything was pushed by by an hour.

Reach the Palace of Versailles.

Awesome painting. Some of the painting looked so real as if it was 3D. My neck hurts after looking at it for too long. Wondered how the artist drew it ?

Hall of Mirrors

Huge and majestic garden they have ! I'm so tired after waiting the whole palace, worst still we walked the same route 3 times because we could not find the way out. I'm just relief that I don't belong to the royalty. It must be hard for them.

Do I look like an Parisian with the beanie? HAHAH

Took an hour ride to Val D'Europe. Since the palace was at the west and this place was at the east. Val D'Europe is a shopping area, factory outlet at the outskirt of Paris.

Actually, we were stopped by a guard because photographing is not allowed. But we still took some secretly.

Heading back to the city.

We board the train at a very bad time. It was the peak hour and the train was totally full of people. I'm squeezed to a corner and couldn't move at all. Worst still, all the people are taller than me and I couldn't breathe well.

Then, at one particular station. Some random guy threw a radio into the cabin and pointed at HZ. Both of us are clueless at what just happened. The lady beside us then asked the guy 'Is this yours?' and he said no and pointed at HZ. Then she asked us and of course we said 'No'. The guy just kept staring at HZ and walked further and further away.

At that time, I was scared stiff or rather WE . I seriously think that the radio is a Bomb. Am really scared, furthermore, it was under my leg leh, of course scare lah! I just kept praying for it not to explode, I didn't even dare to touch it or step it. Wanted to get off at the next stop but it was too crowded to even move an inch.

Then, there was this lady came to stand between us and she secretly kicked the radio towards me. She must be thinking that I didn't see it, too bad I saw ! So, I kicked it back towards her HAHAH.

Luckily, it was just our imagination and nothing happened when we got off.

Went back to all the attractions at night since it was very different during the day and night

At every hour, the eiffel tower will sparkle like diamonds

The weather was just perfect over there, chilling.

I really wanted to try this but too bad it was under renovation. They are changing the cabins into covered ones.

Reach back very late and slept at 2:10AM!

DAY TWO

Let me see, where should I start?

OK first, we woke up very early that day as we have to go to many places.

We were waiting for the tourist information to open as we are too early but we ended wandering around and somehow we realised that we could actually walk around by ourselves.

So, we started the journey.

Our lunch. There are sooo many pigeons around us and i'm afraid that they might attack my food !

We walked a looong way to reach here.

When we first saw it from afar, our reaction were just 'WOW'.

Then, as you go nearer, it gets scarier cause it's so HUGE and TALL.

The higher I go, the weaker my legs are!

That was the first time i had a 脚软 moment.

We wanted to go up to the third level which is the top but the moment we reached the second level, we lose all the courage to go any further up.

First Day- 17/11/09 Tuesday

Woke up at 5:30 in the morning, rushed for the train to Helsinki (capital) at 6:22, took a bus to the airport, check-in and flight took off at 11:00. I think I have took all the modes of transportation on that day.

Oh ya, when i was on the bus, I started to feel unwell, motion sickness i assumed and i was thinking ' NO! Don't do this to me, I just started the journey man !'

Woohoo! Didn't expect to have food served. I'm really thankful for that !

Took indirect flight as it's cheaper, so we stopped at Amsterdam before boarding Air France to Paris.

Their snack tasted weird. But who cares just eat.

Waiting, waiting , waiting for our baggage.

There was this quite big-sized dog running around and sniffing the bags. I'm so scared of the dog !! Furthermore, it's not chained. Then, it came over to me, I didn't dare move an inch. I just paused and silently prayed that it will go away soon. In the end, the dog sniffed my butt and went off. Then, there is this uncle laughing at me, my reaction to the dog !

Well, the airline lost our baggage and my bag was still in Amsterdam! We have reported the lost of our baggage and they gave us each a toiletries bag.

At that moment, we were quite happy since we don't have to carry our heavy bag with us all the way. Furthermore, they said that they might be able to send it to the place we live by tonight. Since all my important stuffs are with me, i'm fine without my bag for that afternoon.

Their metro seriously stinks. It not just one train, it's all the stops and trains. Can't stand the smell at all! It's kind of like urine smell, to me.

McDonald for dinner, don't have the strenght to go around looking for other food.

A Long Morning

I almost gave up pulling myself out of the bed for the 8oclock class.

Anyway, after class, went to their swimming pool.

Have you ever lost your way in the swimming pool? I did, today.

Their swimming pool is so different from ours.

I couldn't figure out which door is the one that lead to the pool.
In the end, i opened one door and saw a group of naked butt in front of me. Got a little shock, hahaha XD

At one point, I thought they swim in the pool naked cause i don't see anyone wearing a swimsuit except us.

Ok explanation time:

First, you pay and get a locker key.

Go to the locker room which is the picture below.

Then, take all your clothes off in the locker room, bring along your towel and shampoo.

Go to the big shower area. ( YES. they don't have cubicles over here. Everyone showers together)

Shower and then you wear your swimsuit.

Go to the pool.

( so other than this picture, i cannot take more cause there are naked women everywhere)

Oh ya! I thought that the indoor pool would be warm. In the end, i was shivering the whole time.

After the swim, went sauna again XD

Because we went sanua that's why we felt warm even though it was snowing.

Fresh snow/ new snow is the best to make snowballs

I tried to throw against a tree but my aiming was really bad, so i needed a larger surface.

Reminds me of that captain ball game. The one game that I ran half of the court trying to catch it, in the end i kicked it even further and out of the court!

Left the snowman at the balcony. Oh ya and how to make the eyes for snowman?

Next time i want to try eating ramen in the middle of the backyard.

My parents sent me a box of fooooooods YEAH

In the afternoon, the door bell rang suddenly and all of us were afraid and thinking who is it this time. But luckily, it was the postman. He speak to me in finnish which i don't understand at all.

3 packet of instant noodles !! , facial oil, one packet of mushroom, and those in newspaper are cooked by my mum

they even sent me kimchi hahaha!

Plus a super light pot which is S$2 only !

Saint's Day

It was a public holiday on saturday. The finnish will pray and commemorate the deaths on this day.

Anyway, Martti and Liisa picked us up at 1. They brought us to the outskirt of Lappeenraanta for a walk XD

Reached this shelter and saw two finnish women barbecuing. One of them was so engrossed in talking that she didn't realised that her sausage dropped into the ashes. In the end, she only managed to save half of it.

While they are barbecuing, we had our little picnic. We had hot berries juice and chocolate cookies !

Went to their house after the walk.

They hanged the CDs above their berries so as to keep the birds away and not eat their berries.

Liisa lent me extra sock to wear so i wouldn't feel cold. I LIKE THE SOCK. IT"S RED

Their kitchen is under renovation yet they are able to prepare such a feast for us !

Watch the television and relax for awhile.

Had cake and coffee for teabreak.

All i could say is: They love feeding us !

oh ya ! they gave us this reflectors and we are supposed to click it onto our coat. When you walked outside in the dark, you have to let this reflector swing on your right side of your leg so that the cars and cyclist can see you .

Random : I miss the sun but not the heat. hahaha !

So on friday, it is another halloween gathering -.-

but this time it was with the germans at our hostel

they baked cookies for the whole afternoon and gave us some =)

We cooked fried rice for them and see how clean the plates are!

oh ya ! the fire alarm rang again while cooking, but it's okay cause we are soooo used to the sharp annoying stupid sound!

Nadine and Nils wanted to cook an American Halloween soup but it's a pity that they couldn't find the pumpkin. The most important ingredient ! hahhah

Nils mixing the drink. It's a mixture of milk, vodka and an irish alcohol.

To me, it's kind of like coffee with alcohol.

Played a card game. Everyone will randomly take a card. One of the person will say either 'Highest' or 'Lowest' and the one with either of it will have to drink. The speed of this game is super fast. So you just have to keep drinking non-stop.

After the first cup , I tried vodka with grapefruit. This was nice! Lets try it together someday =)

ok in the end i decided to join the girls to the halloween party in the club since i'm dying of boredom!

My holiday trip one week ago ...

07/10/09 - Met the germans at the train station at 8:20pm

first, we took a two hours train then change to another smaller train for 30 mins before the final train which have beds.

By the time we got onto the train, it was 12 midnight. So just nice, it's bedtime!

Yeah ! second deck is for me XD

08/10/09- Reached Rovaniemi at 10:45am in the next morning. It was 10 hours journey.

Woke up and was surprised to see the snow!

Cori ( most left) came from germany just to join them for the holiday XD

Walked around the city for the afternoon.

Played german poker card game at night. Till now, I still dun get the game hahah!

After the game, went out to search for wide, dark areas, hoping that we are lucky enough to see the Northern Lights. To see clear Northern light, we need clear and dark sky. Unfortuately, our timing was not very good since the moon is kind of bright for that few days.

We went out everyday for the rest of the nights. Stood in the cold (-5 degree!) for few hours just to see it. At least we got to see it everyday, though it was those weak kind due to the bright light coming from the moon. Weak as in the Northern light is faraway and not very clear. But hey, i got to see loooooots of star XD i saw Cassiopeia !! hahaha

11/10/09- ZOO

Took an hour bus ride to this place.

Oh ya, it was -9 degree on that morning ! suuuuuuuuper cold

Slipped down thrice cause it was too slippery to walk hahaha

anyway, i shall just post a few out of the hundreds of pictures on the animals

You can see the footprints of the Polar Bears and the hole they breaked so to dive into the water.

Anyway, those bears slept for the whole day-.-

After this, took the bus back, the stupid bus was delayed and we almost freeze waiting for it in the cold.

Slacked in the train station, waiting for our train to take us to another state.

12/10/09 - Reached Tampere ( second largest city in Finland, I THINK SO !) around 5 plus in the morning after the 8/9 hours train ride. Slept in the train station while waiting for the shops to open.

Had McDonalds breakfast.

Went to a SPY museum.

Cori asked ' Why are all the statues naked?' HAHAH

Went to dine in a restaurant, my first time going to a restaurant over here !

Niden and Nils ordered this which consist of reindeer meat, wild boar, sheep and few more.

I ordered this which are reindeer meat and i can't remember the other meat.
Oh the food was awesome, really delicious! Or maybe it was due to me just having breads and hams for the past few days.
After the meal, we seperated with them. They are heading back to the hostel but we will be heading to other places.

Caught the train to Helsinki ( capital) at 4 plus, reach there around 6 and it was raining. Tried to find the way to the habour under the rain and almost got lost.

Met up with my taiwan friend and a russian girl to go to Tallin( Estonia). Took a cruise around 9 plus.

On the cruise

Reached there around 12 midnight, took a taxi to the hostel. We were late so were afraid that the reception is closed.

Reached the place, knocked the door, no response, was pouring outside, cold wind blowing, have been walking for 2 days, didn't have a good sleep last night, and so was on the verge of breaking down. For me lar hahah

Then luckily, someone opened the door and relief washed over me !

Settled some stuffs and headed for the bed!

13/10/09 - Tallin

Basically, we just walked Tallinn the whole day.

The stairs are killing me ! Climbed about 8 stories high of stairs !

The wind was super stong up there. I was pushed by the wind and hit the railing.

She is Chu Fang from Taiwan.

Started snowing. Different kind of snow this time. It was those small, dry and solid.It hurts when they hit your face ! Oh and i didn't know that they are different types of snow. I have always thought snow as soft and small.

14/10/09- Woke up at 5 to catch the cruise at 8am. I decided to go back since i'm too tired. The two girls continued their journey to Lutvia which is the country before Estonia. They decided to go there last minute.

The weather in Helsinki was surprisedly good unlike in Tallinn.

Walked around the capital alone. I was really afraid of walking alone in a place i'm unfamiliar with. Had a difficult time. However, I felt much better when i went around shopping. Maybe this is what you call' Retail Therapy' hahah

I love their streets!

Took 2 and half hour train before finally reaching back to the hostel at seven plus.

Fiona and jw chatted with me on msn that night and i'm really thankful since i'm the only human being in the house. thanks =)

It was simply beautiful.

I heard that there was slight earthquake in Singapore.

Was webcamming with my parents just now and suddenly there was earthquake, the chairs, even the building were shaking. My mum thought that she had a headache when she saw the water moving side to side. I'm very worried now. A regional tsunami warning was issued too.

For yesterday (sat)

Liisa and Marttin came to pick us at 11am, before that we went to the mart to buy a gift for them. They drove us to their house with car and it is the first time for me going down the street in a car, since walking is my only transportation here.

They showed us some photo albums and we played Memory game ( the game which you have to find two identical cards ). Guess what ? I got the last place ! hahaha can't believe my memory is worse than Liisa and Marttin. After that, we did some baking XD

This is fresh berries juice made by Liisa. It tasted like ribena but better and fresher.

Ate the 'Hot from the oven' bread together with the juice. NICE NICE hahha!

I think it is better that i don't say what i'm playing. Really embrassing hahah!

Went for a walk in the forest. We walked about 45mins. Yes, i need to burn some fats anyway!

Marttin with his exercising stick. Most of the elderly use this over here to help them with walking, not very sure about this too hahah

We went for a swim in this lake. It is freezing, freezzzing, freezzzzzzing COLD. It like ice water, i think it is around 5-6 degrees celsius. My whole leg got numb within seconds and i just froze there with my lower body in the water. Thank to the push from Huizhen and the slippery stair filled with algae, i then got into the water. Thank very much huh Huizhen ! hahaha.

We were shocked when Liisa said it's time to go. I was barely in the water for a minute. I think this is their way of swimming. Because when i went in to change to my clothes, another woman was changing into her swimsuit and when i'm done wearing my jeans, she was back. Anyway, it is IMPOSSIBLE for you to really swim too.

Oh ya, after the swim you won't feel cold at all instead you will feel very warm XD

I like their house. It is very heart-warming. They have stayed here since 1980s. =)

We went to their sauna after resting for awhile. Yes, almost every finnish families will have a sauna room in their house. Finnish people go into the sauna naked. But i can't really take it yet so i used a towel to cover hahah. i remember she said that the time when you can come into the sauna naked, you will be a real finnish girl.

I like the hot and cold feeling. When you cannot take the heat inside the sauna anymore, you should go out and take a cold bath and back into the sauna. In this way, it will wash away the dirt from your body too.

Liisa offered us beer after sauna. We sat in a room to cool ourselves down before changing. She OFFERED ! so you see, you really got to learn how to drink.

It would be better if i have a book under this atmosphere.

Today is totally uneventful. Did the laundry and just spent half of the day lying on the bed reading 'Twilight' hahah XD

Finally i'm done with this post! I intended to use only 10 mins, in the end i took me about an hour and half !

Can you believe it ? I woke up at 6:50AM today to go to the laundry room just to wash my blanket and bed cover. Then, went to school at around 8:30 AM.

Finland VS The world

School football match. It is quite cold to sit outside esp after the rain. Furthermore, the match wasn't that interesting.

After the match , Nadine and Nils (german friends) came over to cook german food for us XD

i just came back from cruise organized by the school. Nothing much to do on the cruise. Drink, chat, watch people dance and listen to the music. And no, i didn't drink a lot hahha cause it was very exp. i just drank half a mug only XD

Oh ya! i had my first presentation on SIA today.

Well, this is for yesterday. Our school have a 'BACK TO SCHOOL' event and it's a checkpoint game which means you have to go to ten places around the town to accomplish different tasks.

All the task is seriously crazy. To me, some of the games is ridiculous. To them, i'm sure it's absolutely normal and fun. I dun think i want to talk about the games here.

Well, today went school for only 2 hours wahahahh and that lesson is Finnish which i find it so so different from English but it is similar to Japanese =)

After school, we tried to search for their biggest shopping mall here with just a MAP. I'm seriously proud to say ' I'm a GEOGRAPHIC student!' cause i found the place !! woohoo hahaha

oh ya and i banged into a bicycle today =( however, i'm more worried for the cyclist cause he is an old man and he looked sooooo shocked from the 'BANG'.

Then i found out that i lost my house key when i reach home !! i can get into the house since i'm with my flatmates but the problem is i will have to pay 100 euro if i lose it.

I guessed the key flew out of my pouch when i got banged by the bicycle so i have to walk allllll the way back to the so called 案发现场. and~

LUCKILY, the key is there ! it is lying soo near to the drain and it could have dropped into the hole of the drain. really thank thank thank so much that it didn't. If not i would have to say bye to 100 euro ~

hey girls i have reached this place at around 11 plus last night
mentally and physically exhausted !
i got really bad shock from the flight
there is one part when the plane go through turbulence, it was so strong that people started to scream, water is spilled and you can feel the rollar coaster feeling. i nearly cried la.
Yet, this is not the end we went through two more thunderstorm and i'm afraid the lightning would break the wings but luckily no.
i felt safe once the plane stopped at the ground. but the worst thing is i have to take the plane back home next time. seriously, i thought of changing to SIA.

anyway, i took one whole day to travel from singapore to here.
The weather was perfect. Sunny and windy but cold in the evening.
Things are pretty much settled and orientation starts tommorrow.
wish me luck then !!

anyway i will post up pictures once i got it from my friend. i locked my bag with the camera inside so no pictures from me =(
